Why I Built Maaia

The problem nobody talks about

I was managing my life across 12 different apps. Todoist for tasks. YNAB for budgets. HubSpot for contacts. Apple Health for fitness. Notion for notes. Google Calendar for scheduling. And on, and on.

Every morning I would open at least five of these apps just to get a sense of my day. Every evening I would try to reconcile what actually happened across all of them. The information lived in silos. My task app had no idea that I was stressed about a financial deadline. My CRM had no idea that the contact I was following up with was also someone I owed a personal favor to. My health app had no idea that my declining sleep was correlated with a spike in overdue tasks.

I kept thinking: someone should build a single system that understands all of this. An AI that does not just respond to commands, but actually knows you, remembers your patterns, and connects the dots you miss.

Why existing AI tools fall short

ChatGPT is brilliant. Claude is brilliant. But they forget you the moment the conversation ends. Every time you open a new chat, you start from zero. You re-explain your goals, your context, your preferences. That is not a companion. That is a stranger you keep meeting over and over.

Other "AI productivity" tools bolt a chatbot onto a single function. An AI to-do list. An AI budgeting app. But they still live in their own little world. The to-do AI does not know your finances. The budgeting AI does not know your health. Nobody sees the full picture.

The vision behind Maaia

Maaia was born from a simple belief: your personal AI should know you as well as your best friend does, and be as organized as the best executive assistant in the world.

She remembers every conversation. She tracks your tasks, your money, your contacts, your health, your goals, your knowledge. Not in separate modules you have to switch between, but in a single, flowing conversation. You talk to her like a person. She responds with the full context of your life.

Tell her you are stressed about a project deadline, and she already knows which tasks are overdue, that you have not slept well this week, and that the client you are working with has a birthday coming up. She does not just give advice. She gives advice that is actually relevant to your situation.

Why "Flow with Life"

I chose this tagline because productivity should not feel like a grind. The best days are the ones where everything clicks, where you move from task to task with clarity, where you are not constantly context-switching between apps and spreadsheets. That state of flow is what Maaia is designed to create.

She handles the organizational overhead so you can focus on actually living. When you capture a thought, she files it in the right place. When you finish a task, she surfaces the next one that matters. When something slips through the cracks, she catches it before it becomes a problem.

Memory changes everything

The single most important feature in Maaia is persistent memory. She remembers your preferences, your goals, your recurring patterns. Over time, she gets better at anticipating what you need. She learns that you are most productive in the morning, that you tend to procrastinate on financial tasks, that you feel better when you exercise three times a week.

This is not a gimmick. It is the difference between a tool and a companion. A tool does what you tell it. A companion understands what you need before you ask.

Cross-domain awareness

The real magic happens when Maaia connects information across domains. Your finances affect your stress. Your stress affects your sleep. Your sleep affects your productivity. Your productivity affects your finances. It is all one system, and Maaia treats it that way.

When she notices a pattern, like declining energy every time you have back-to-back meetings, or overspending every time you skip your weekly review, she tells you. Not as a notification you ignore, but as a conversation you actually engage with.

An invitation

Maaia is in beta right now. She is not perfect. But she is already helping real people manage their lives in a way that no combination of separate apps ever could. If you have ever felt overwhelmed by the sheer number of tools you need just to stay on top of things, give her a try. I think you will be surprised how quickly she starts to feel indispensable.

This is just the beginning. The vision is a personal AI that grows with you, from managing your personal life to running your entire business. One companion, one conversation, one flow.
